Automated Safety Protocols

To protect our users, Reco employs automated safety mechanisms. While chatting, if the AI detects language that suggests severe emotional distress, self-harm, or danger to others, it will temporarily pause the conversation.

When this happens:

  • You will see a “Support is Available” card with immediate crisis resources.
  • The AI will not attempt to counsel you through a crisis, as it is not equipped to do so.
  • If the detection was a false positive (such as discussing past therapy or literature), you can dismiss the warning to seamlessly resume coaching with your original message.

Data Privacy & Anonymity

We treat crisis detection events with the highest level of privacy. When a safety threshold is triggered:

  • No personal identifiers (such as your name, email, or user ID) are logged in our crisis metrics database.
  • We strictly aggregate numerical counts by country to fulfill our safety and transparency obligations without tracking individual users.
  • Our backend systems use Fail-Closed Security — prioritizing user safety and caution in ambiguous conditions.
